Rebecca Dawn
Rebecca is the owner of
Blue Dory Lodge and New Dawn Wellness. She has been a Registered Nurse for
19 years, is Emergency Trauma Trained, and has been an International Board
Certified Lactation Consultant for 11 years. She has lived and worked on
Kodiak Island and the six outlying villages for the last 17 years. Rebecca
was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to purchase the home of Ed
Opheim, Sr. His family homesteaded 160 acres of land on Spruce Island
in the early 1900s. The Lodge is his former home with his wooden boat sho p.
Rebecca loves Spruce
Island, cooking, hiking, local plant lore, complimentary/alternative medicine, and people of all walks of life. She
has extensive experience in the food services and specializes in the gluten
free diet. She is full of energy, has a great outlook on life, and
loves to welcome guests to her home.
Dean Wilson
Dean is the Skipper of the
F/V Snoopy and runs Blue Dory Charters. He holds a United States Coast
Guard 100 Ton Masters License and is fully insured. Dean has been a
commercial fisherman in Kodiak Island waters since 1978. He has fished
salmon, halibut, cod, crab, and pollock. Recently, he has done forage fish
surveys and whale researchwork for the University of Alaska. He is a
walking fish encyclopedia when given the opportunity to share his
knowledge.
Dean loves Alaska for its
fishing, wildlife viewing, whale watching, and hunting. He is always full
of energy and a good time. His sense of humor and friendly smile make
everyone feel at home on the F/V Snoopy.
Dustin C. Fraser
Dustin will entertain you with his sense of humor, extensive knowledge of fish and wildlife, and gourmet cooking. Dustin spent 5 years commercial fishing in Kodiak Island waters. He has been a professional Chef for the last 10 years. His seafood chowder has been described by one customer as “the best soup on earth.” He is literally a “life saver” for the Lodge and Charter business with his 8 years as a firefighter and his EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification. Dustin enjoys Kodiak for its fly fishing, hunting, abundant wildlife, outdoor activities, and long summer daylight. Everyone loves Dustin and leaves his company with a big smile!
